Real world: at the market and supermarket

Shopping vocabulary is used every day: at the supermarket („Wo sind die Kassierer?"), at the market („Was kostet ein Kilo Äpfel?" — How much is a kilo of apples?), and in clothes shops („Haben Sie das in Größe 38?" — Do you have this in size 38?). German weekly markets (Wochenmärkte) are popular and use lots of this vocabulary.

Real world: sales and bargain hunting

During sales: „Der Ausverkauf beginnt morgen." (The sale starts tomorrow.) „Alles ist 30% reduziert." (Everything is 30% off.) „Ich habe dieses Kleid im Angebot gefunden." (I found this dress on offer.) „Der Gutschein ist noch gültig." (The voucher is still valid.) German Schlussverkauf (end-of-season sale) is a major shopping event.
